PC104p-H009 <==> PC104p, PCI-104 card with H009 access

Do you need to interface with one of the many aircraft and other platforms that use the H009 bus? PCI-104 and PC104p are a compact stacking formats which lend themselves to lightweight - small volume situations. The PC104p-H009 is a PC104 design which translates between the H009 bus protocol and the PCI bus.

The PC104p-H009 design features two complete connections which can be used as a dual redundant system. The A and B side are electrically independent back to the Xilinx. Within the Xilinx the state-machines are independent allowing one side to be a Target, and the other a Master at the same time. In normal operation, the software will select Bus A or Bus B creating the redundancy. For loop-back the A and B side can be configured with both active and one a master and the other a target device so the A can loop-back with B.

When in master mode the H009 bus is driven by the PC104p-H009 to start each cycle. The data sent has embedded address and command to alert a specific target to respond or take action. If a response is expected the transceiver on the RX/TX data line is reversed to read the data back from the target.

Multi-board operation is supported. With multiple PC104p-H009s in your system and unique cabling, sensors etc. for each slot on each PC104p-H009 it is important to know which PC104p-H009 is which and to properly control them. A surface mount dip switch is provided which provides an identifier to the software. A specific PC104p-H009 can be matched up with the PCI address allocated to make for deterministic control. The switch can also be used for other purposes; configuration control or debugging for example. The switch values are available to be read via the PCI bus.

The PC104p-H009 is a design concept at the moment. Dynamic Engineering has an IndustryPack® version of the design which was done a long time ago. Dynamic Engineering is interested in updating the design to use a current FPGA and platform. We can do the design and implement the state-machines based on the original F-15 project implementation. We are looking for an industry partner to help with system integration to prove the design. Contact us if you are interested in working with us to implement the H009 on PC104p, PCI-104, PMC, cPCI, or on an updated IP.
